Last March I had a shoulder issue that two different orthopedic surgeons diagnosed as a rotator cuff tear after having me do a series of directional motion against resistance exercises with my arm. I also am into archery some and couldn't even lift my bow into shooting position. I opted for exercise on my own (lifting against increasingly heavier objects against the discomfort) and gradually got back to normal activity, including archery. So what might be seen as a rotator cuff needing surgery may not actually be. It may not be totally as good as it was before but allows me to fish and shoot as I did before.

I was having unbearable pain in my neck and after numerous different drs and tests they finally determined I had a torn labrum. I had to have the surgery because the pain was bad at the end of working all day. Had the surgery and the dr said it was pretty bad, needed 3 pins to reattach. Took about 1 year to fully recover with lots of PT but now 10 years later it I am good as new. Doesn’t hurt at all fishing.
