Dudley likes to talk. He is going to talk about something. I rode with him one day in the Toyota tournament on Conroe. He was pretty entertaining.

I have a feeling he may regret talking (or talking on behalf of MLF) in this case. It doesn’t appear his latest video is being too well received. It was almost like he was trying to lecture people or sell them something the vast majority have already rejected for a variety of valid reasons. It’s also telling when I see how many people who have commented also see the bigger picture about the shady agenda MLF has used and how it’s backfired. I truly believe MLF and the anglers who flocked to them like lemmings terribly miscalculated what the results would be. That’s what’s so puzzling about Thrift going, because he’s had a year to see what was already happening. With Dudley, I can understand, because him returning to BASS would have required him to swallow too much pride and eat a lot of crow...

David Dudley is one of the most straightforward and informative pros out there and he is nobody's monkey. You want to pick on someone, pick on Shryock.

I don’t doubt he means well, but if you watch the video it comes across as if he’s trying to sell something to his fans that he already knows they don’t like, but it’s after he already bought into it. Whether he was encouraged to do so by others in MLF, could be debated, but considering everything else going on with MLF, it wouldn’t be surprising they are trying to recruit anyone they can to go out and attempt to change minds. The most telling of it all is the comments he has received back, which was 250 at the time I am replying to this, that has steadily been growing; of which the vast majority seem to be essentially saying to David they just don’t agree with him.

People still seem generally supportive of DD, just not of his choice and argument about the format. David really didn’t have much of a choice, but I don’t think many people know that and his history, but him moving to MLF was kind of written in stone due to his troubled past with BASS. Thrift’s decision is what kind of surprised me because he had a choice and a decent chance of quickly passing through the opens into elites due to his prowess on the water.
