I am putting an electric pump on for 3 reasons. First one is I blew two motors when the VRO went out. I am not going to chance this motor with the same fate. Reason two is simplicity, once I hook it up I know it is working because I can hear the pump. Reason three, in the event that the pump stops working I can go to any Autozone and buy a replacement for $50, 7 days a week even in BFE

Pump is under the cowling in the same area as the stock pump, did the same procedure to a 1987 Evinrude and worked great, that motor has been sold and who knows how many hours are on it now still running strong.

Hope for the best, but prepare for the worst
