I see they are arriving in large numbers for the winter. I guess they migrate south along with everything else.

I read a cormorant consumes a pound of fish per day. Fish consumed are less than 6"s long.

So why is it illegal to shoot them?

It seems we would be doing the fisheries here in Texas a great service.

It should be open season all year, they ruin fisheries.

They are a migratory bird and protected by the migratory bird treaty/act. When I lived in Florida there was a lake that was shutdown because their feces caused an E. Coli bloom in the lake.. all the trees were white where they were roosting. They destroyed the lake. Dreadful creatures.

I don’t know about just eating 6 inch fish. I saw one take a 2 lb channel cat by my dock on Saturday. I hope the stupid thing choked and died from it.

A 6" fish may be what they prefer but they will eat, or try to eat, anything they can get hold of.

Yep, I have caught several 14†plus fish that had beak marks on them from the bite, mostly small Blue Cats.

They pretty much killed our 10 acre lake at the deer lease last year.

Aim for them with your boat. Just keep your head down.

Every time I get the chance. They can shut down good fishing as soon as they show up.

They definitely need to be controlled better and taken off the MBTA list.

would it help if we had an email addresses for key people at the federal level plus each state...if we could get people on this forum and bass boat central to overwhelm them with e-mails demanding something be done about cormorants, maybe something would get done...
if nothing gets done, we could use these e-mail addresses to tell them what worthless POS they are....
