Xcite squarebills catch fish for sure. However, I find them to be the least durable of any I have ever tried. I'm lucky to get two trips out of them. I constantly break the bill off of them.
I always end up back with the Strike King 1.5 or 2.5. It's affordable, durable, and it flat catches fish. Affordability with a bait that has two treble hooks and works best thrown into heavy cover is an issue for me. I'm just not going to pay $10+ if I don't have to. Especially when there are plenty of good baits for $8 or less. Even non pro staff losers like me can usually find a 1.5 for under $5 if you buy at the right time.

I throw a lot of square bills and have tried several different ones but one of my favorites hands down is the Xcite XB 1 great colors with a weight transfer system which stops tumbling during the cast which adds distance. Check them out. You wont be disappointed. www.Xcitebaits.com Exactly my point Marc... great baits

Have any of y'all noticed a difference in either direction good/bad with the circuit board style bills?

I like the circuit board bills. The sharper edge to those bills creates more water turbulence and tends to impart more wiggle.

Grew up on Grand and I agree with rxkid and rj, two guys in the boat, 3 or 4 feet off of a drop/cliff edge, which Grand has millions of them, one guy throw a jerkbait one direction, other guy throw a squarebill, deeper diver reeled SLOW or drop shot. Personally, I like Lucky Craft, XCite, 6th Sense, Strike King, in that order. For Grand, I like sexy shad, citrus shad, clear sexy shad.
Also, take a look at the water level at blue hole, below the dam, if water is moving, TONS of sand bass down there and lots of fun!!

H2O squarebills from Academy. Eh. Not a bad choice in a pinch. SK 1.5 or 2.5 is my choice. Just change the hooks first. Academy H2O square bills will catch fish as well as any lure that costs 4 times as much, They use VMC hooks and oval split rings at the line tie. Yes, I occasionally buy another brand but only for an unusual color. JMO.

Wished I had bought everyone on the shelf at that price.

I keep a small stash of old xcalibur squarebills in 1.5 and 2.5 size that I really like. I throw 6th sense and strike king after that.
