Cordless Tools Question - Batteries Stick

What's the solution for the batteries sticking in the tools? It's not dirt, I use a stiff brush to clean out both the tools and the batteries every time I'm done with them. It looks to me that the repeated sliding in & out scuffs up the plastic surfaces just enough to make it a real bear getting the batteries out. I thought dielectric grease might be an answer but on second thought think no, that'll just hold more dirt, etc, and contribute to the problem, not the solution.

spray silicone, it dries and won't attract dust

Battery same brand as tool? I'm had this problem with knock off brand batteries. Perhaps the battery case heats up and expands during use.
