Look into a hybrid mask. it combines a mask that covers your mouth with nose pillows attached or something similar. works great, very comfortable.

I used a full face one for a while but it kept me awake because I would move and the seal would break. I lost about 40#'s and now do not need it.

I did this also after trying CPAP once. It has been successful and did get great results.

I thought I was one of the few that went this way, it surprised me to see that three of us have done this. You are right the recovery was a PITA or throat.
Best wishes Frank, keep with it as I have many friends that use one and say it is a life changer.

Yes, Doctor removed tonsils and uvula, cleared out sinuses, and fixed my broken nose. I was on liquids for a week and the sinus packing is uncomfortable, not to mention how much of some kind of medium he jammed up there, I couldn't believe the amount of material he pulled from my nostrils a week later. Final outcome, the Apnea is gone, and my energy is up.

I went the surgery route also, did not want to wear a CPAP, I'm glad I did it also. Doctor removed my uvula. Like Dfitz said recovery was a nightmare but in the end it all worked out.

Started with my full-face mask about 8 years ago...haven't missed a night yet. It was worth it.
