Not sure about you guys but sometimes I just need an excuse to get out of the house, even if the fish aren't biting. Very good point. This was the reason I went out last week even though conditions were far from ideal. Still caught a few to make it worthwhile and found and even better crappie lure (something like Jaime throws I never tried before)
It was a different world when we were boys and girls....

Have a safe and happy Thanksgiving, all! Hope to make it out there this weekend if the weather is decent.

Fishing was very slow at Nails Creek today. Fished for a couple hours and only caught 3 small crappie and a small channel cat. The water clarity is good, but like mentioned earlier in the thread, we need a good rain to get the creek to come up two or three feet.

I went to Irwin bridge yesterday morning. I spoke with a couple of my fishing buddies. All they had caught were small bluegill and goo. I only caught a few bluegill as well. I checked on Newman Bottom but the sign still shows the area to be closed. I parked in the WMA parking lot and walked into Nails. I fished a couple spots down to the trailway bridge but only caught more small bluegill. I left and headed back to the dam. I caught 15 keeper white bass and a hybrid. I fished the dam again this morning. I caught a total of 55 white bass and 3 hybrids. 41 of the 55 white bass were keepers. There are also lots of common carp in the area. I caught one on a size 10 crawfish briminator pattern.

Nice catch, J-Moe. I wonder if Newman's Bottom will magically open in time for the White Bass spawn?
