James,

I had some bad vibes with Fun and Sun a couple of years ago and would not go back. I did buy a new boat from an individual that had won the boat and I got the deal that I wanted. I've used Plano Marine for some repairs and have had no problems with them.

When I buy a bigger boat I probably would do the same thing or a boat that is a couple of years old that has been taken care of. Many boats are out there, just have to do a little homework. It'll save you lots of bucks. BTW--most boat warranties will transfer so you can shop used with confidence and good insurance that is really not that much a year just incase. $500 deductable is pretty comforting when you knock a lower unit off or bend a prop shaft that warranties dont cover.

As a matter fact the service I have recieved from Fun n Sun has been outstanding. When I originally bought my boat there were some scratches and missing decals on the trailer. They told me to make a list of any problems over the summer and when I came back for the 20 hour check up, which wasnt covered under warranty, they would take care of any issues.

All warranty issues were taken care of, trailer was repainted, and because they missed a spot on the hub of the trailer and kept it an extra 2 days they no charged me for the 20 hour service.

They also replaced my ignition on the boat due to a lack of paying attention on my part, and did it under warranty.

I guess you could say they have earned my business.

If Plano Marine works for you then take your busines there. The OP on this thread was asking for any expierances with them I was just letting him know about mine.

I went over to Fun & Sun in Hurst. Even though they had a ton a customers in the store the day I signed paper on my boat, they made me feel like I was their ONLY customer they had to worry about that day. Mark values a customer and makes sure the staff does also. They treated me like a king and discounted my additional purchases that day (over $1000.00).

The salesman at Plano Marine told me that if I didn't purchase my boat there I shouldn't expect the same kind of service as one of their boat customers. Hey, if I don't get a discount and my money is just as green as the next guy's, when my boat is up for service, it shouldn't be reshuffled to accommodate someone else that brought theirs in after me. It's a shame because they are less than ten minutes from my home. Their tactic to encourage me to buy a boat there really backfired on them. I still get steamed thinking about how I was talked too.

Right now, I would drive to Hurst just to buy the oil and Plano Marine is only ten minutes away from me.

Every time I see a bashing post on a dealer or boat company or some other business it seems that its always by someone with very few posts. Of course that raises my curiosity as to what else they have been posting. I usually find people that just wait for a topic to jump in on it. But I found this kind of ironic.

Nothing would be gained to identify the forum besides after reading all the trash posts about me and my first post, I abandoned what my Mom taught me and turned my Old Mo broad side and delivered a salvo of 16"ers back into their boats. I shouldn't have done that, but I wasn't interested in that forum anymore, I was really ticked off and I didn't have anything to lose if they banned me from the forum which they did-thankfully and probably rightfully so. I can be like a bulldog that doesn't know when to let go of the bone.

ALL HAIL THOSE PARTICIPANTS ON THIS FORUM THAT HAVE THOUSANDS OF POSTS. THEY ARE THE ONLY ONES THAT SPEAK THE FROM THE HOLY FISHING BIBLE.

Well, excuse me for not having the financial resources and lifestyle to purchase my boat until just now. You attack me and say I am bashing simply because I just joined the forum. The number of posts you make has nothing to do with your credibility. It simply means you spend an inordinate amount of time tapping on the keyboard. Perhaps you need to spend less time behind the keyboard and try to get a life. I can make a alternate recommendation for another forum you may be interested in. Based on your reply, I would say you would fit right in. They also look down on and rip new memebers whenever possible.

The original post asked about dealings with Plano Marine. I described mine from last month. If Plano Marine is your bed buddy that's great. More power to the two of you but you sould have a modicum of maturity to not bash people who had a bad experience there and then answer someone's question about them. Plano Marine earned my ire. I am not on a quest to put Plano Marine out of business. I do not volunteer this information but whenever anyone asks what I think about them, I surely do not mind describing my experience.

I am a business owner and have worked in the service industry for close to 20 years. As a customer I know when I will get along with a business and when I won't. There are ways I treat my clients and I demand no less when I am a customer. I took my business elsewhere. If you don't like what happened to me go talk to Plano Marine. I have my boat and I am happy.

Dude take your prozac and calm down. Those were your words not mine. I did not attack you and I am not protecting Plano Marine.

ETA...I am certainly not bashing you for joining. Congrats on your new boat and welcome aboard the TFF.

Now go do what your momma told you. j/k

Hey why is my name listed as the original poster of that?? I didnt write that.

Anyways, Brett hit the nail on the head with "It is how you handle yourself after the fact that determines if your worth doing business with, in my opinion." This is where PM has had so many problems.

I had a friend try and buy a boat at Plano Marine and said the sales guy was rude and not very helpful. I own a skeeter myself, but get it serviced anywhere but Plano Marine. They are over priced and take wayyyyy to long to get the work done. Basically, the customer service there is under par for the industry in my opinion.

Fun n Sun got my business.

I can't believe a salesman said that. For me, it is the little things that make the difference. One day about 15 years ago I went into an Exxon station to get a flat tire fixed. A punk kid they had working there smarted off to me. I took my flat tire and myself and left. I have not gone back to an Exxon station since, I don't need to. There are too many other companies out there that will welcome my business, to give it to the ones that don't. Most companies do not relaize that one wrong word can lose a customer for life, but beyond that, it will also provide bad word of mouth advertising for life.

Bought my last two Champions from Plano Marine. Known Benny and the Gang for a long Time. Always had Good Luck with Them. I would Buy another Boat from them, but for some Stupid Reason, they Quit selling Champions. Service Dept is a little Slow, but would say They do a good Job in getting Your Boat fixed.

I agree i will not be back to plano marine either. To long to
get service and they just act like they do not care and laugh
about your problems. Like i have said before the plano marine
in longview I would deal with but not the one in plano texas.
