I'd go with the Thunder Hammer.

The paint on the black blades on the jackhammers peel off after a day or two of use. That's pretty disappointing in a $16 bait. That being said, I've caught some nice fish on them. I'm thrown the thunder cricket as well. Seems like the blade takes a split second longer to vibrate on retrieve. Caught some nice fish on them too though.

This one works better for me. The tungsten head is about 40% smaller than lead.

Do you think if everyone buys Jackhammers and Thunder Crickets in a few years they will go back to eating the cheap chatterbaits again?

They already do. While I throw Jackhammers most of the time I do use the cheaper original Z-Mans in heavy cover (less tears when you loose a $3 bait vs a $16 one).

The blade has a different shape. I have not thrown one but it is different.
