How often should I purchase a new Navionics mapping chip ? Does it really make a big difference in quality of contour lines, creeks etc. ? I have a HDS 12 Gen 3 Lowrance . Thanks !

Annually if you care to update the mapping.

You don’t have to buy a new card now at all just the subscription. Unfortunately it’s $99 a year. If you don’t and have updated HDS units you will lose some functionality. Total [censored] if you ask me but you don’t really have a choice.
