We are considering buying a UTV for the band to haul water, cups, equipment to and from the band hall to the field. We’ve been using shopping carts, but they’re getting worn out.

We need something slow, with a large cargo box. I’ve looked at Polaris, Kawasaki, Yamaha, John Deere, and Kubota. Also looked at golf carts, but they’re more expensive in most cases and I don’t want anything battery powered.

So far it’s between Kawasaki Mule and a John Deere Gator. Can y’all think of any other companies to look at for something like this? Any input on Kawasaki Mules or Gators?

Have you priced a mule.
They are great, but you could get a jeep for the same price

I’ve heard good things about the Honda pioneers. That’s what I’m looking at getting.

I don’t know where in deep east Texas you are, but I would almost put money on there being a Sunbelt or Sunstate rentals in that area. I would suggest calling one of them and seeing if they have an older one for sale (both of those places are religious with their maintenance), and short of that, see if they would loan one to your band for events, games, or whatever it is that bands do, in exchange for free advertising. You might be surprised at the answers you get.

I have had all but honda sxs out here, best overall low or no maintenance was kawasaki mule. they are all metal and very heavy though, suck in mud.
john deere is for a gentleman rancher to haul grandkids around imo.

polaris, great when they run right. highest maintenance I have had.

one yamaha rino, never a problem but was only one season.

for sideline stuff and haulin band things, gas powered with 6' dump bed. can am or polaris, can am would be my preference for what it is worth (I have 3 out here now).

call langdon outdoors in paris tue or thur and talk to todd, he is the owner and can set you up with a good used maybe.

I’ve been shopping UTV’s too. They all have their own ups and downs. I like the Mule with two rows on seats. The back seat folds down for more bed space.

My work vehicle is a mule, the company buys them by the dozens, overall a very reliable ride,we are on concrete 100% of the time so 4x4 and diff lock are never used, but they start every time and run plenty fast, they are used 24/7 365 and we are on our 3rd year using them, much more reliable than the Yamaha and EZ go golf carts we had before.
