November 18, 1999 was the date of the disastrous bonfire accident at College Station. Twelve Aggies were killed and 27 were injured. The entire state of Texas mourned with the TAM faithful. The game was still played on November 26, and UT honored the Aggies at halftime. Gig 'Em

PG, the pic quality on this video isn't that great. What was the formation of the band? Can't really tell. Thank you sir.

The technology from 20 years ago isn't quite what we have today, and I'm not sure what the formation was, but it was probably tied to the A&M tribute that day. I found a bit better quality video but the first one also include the Longhorn band playing TAPS which this one does not. Watch at the end when the flag carriers (carrying both Texas and Texas A&M flags) lower the Texas flags in another sign of respect.

A sad day in Texas History! The good that came out of this was not only Texas and Texas AM pulling together but it seemed that the whole State of Texas and a good portion of the USA was being very supportive.

Heard what happened and called my aggie girlfriend I was dating then. She couldn't believe it. She made a few calls around to see if her friends were ok. I wrote a letter to the A&M president stating that at this time we are all Texas brothers and aggieland had our thoughts and prayers and was surprised I received a thank you letter back from him. Still have it.
The gf and I attended the Bonfire Benefit concert at Reed Arena in early 2000. I proudly wore burnt orange while in College Station.(I was pulled over in 1991 going down Texas Avenue at 7am game day for doing 32 in a 30 and he noticed I was from out of town(Texas hat). We were headin to my grandmother's house in Waco from the wife's parents house in CS. So, I said I would never wear burnt orange nothing in CS while there).

I am a proud Aggie, and i watched that performance live.
But after seeing the Texas Band strike their colors ...... I choose to never again speak or react to The University of Texas in such harsh hatred that I once did as an Aggie student and Alum.
Like someone said, the football game just became much less important.
i sometimes wish that SOME Aggie haters on this site, would see the difference. Go to the Bonfire Memorial on the Aggie campus some time. Very moving.
I'm glad there are wine drinkers in this world ..... it saves more beer for the rest of us. Hopper
