I have a 2011 Lowe Stinger 175 with a 60hp Mercury on it. Yesterday the trim started to make a grinding sound. Now it won’t trim up or down but trim motor runs. I checked the hydraulic fluid and it was still full so no crack. Any ideas? I feel like the gears or bearings in the motor have gone bad, but I know nothing about hydraulics so that’s a blind guess. Thanks.
I had a 150 Johnson making a grinding sound that apparently was caused by air in the system. On that motor it said to cycle it several times then when full up remove cap and reservice the fluid. It actually burped when I cracked the cap. Not sure about the Mercury but I bet some of the pros will chime in with their ideas. And welcome to the Forum at least as far as posting goes....
