They may have just been stunned from being thrown from 20 ft up back into the lake. The man speaks absolute fact. Looks like it's raining bass off the side of that hill on most cold Saturday afternoons. Is the weigh in area elevated above the lake? Never been there so I don’t know. Haven’t made it out there yet. Too many lazy people don't walk down to the water to drop their fish back in the water. Instead they throw them from up the hill.

Well at least the floaters are much smaller than they used to be!

We saw a handful of floaters Sunday coming in after the weekend jackpot tourney. People need to learn how to handle fish caught out deep. here we go again. Please elaborate as to how you know these "floaters" were caught out deep and poor handling led to their demise. Because most people don't fizz their fish. I see plenty of fish belly up trying to swim that can't because their air bladder is full and cant be released fast enough from being drug in out of 15-35ft of water. If I too you to a high elevation mountain, hung you upside down and drove down a bumpy road the majority of the day, you wouldn't be making many more casts yourself.

I have caught some in 10 ft of water that needed fin clips or fizzing.

really???? I've caught hundreds of fish 0-20 ft. and not one needed fizzing. I don't fish much deeper than that so I won't have to worry about fizzing. Do I now need to worry ?

I caught one last month on Lewisville in 15 fow that needed a fin clip. You may think they are fine, but when the livewell is open, they will be swimming to the bottom. If you open the livewell quick and notice them floating before they try to swim down, then they need some treatment.

Did you immediately release them? Makes a difference if you drag them around all day in your livewell. I've caught them in 35ft of water, and pointed them back in the water and let them go without fizzing. Put that same fish in the livewell and guarantee it will need fizzing

And we assume every fish that struggles and doesn’t remain upright needs fizzing? I’ve caught fish from shallow water that obviously are in some form of trauma that don’t swim away “correctly” either. Needed to “fizz” them? Yes, fizzing is important for many deeper caught fish. Isn’t the answer to everything though.
