My SO and her dogs live here. Yes, I know there are some snakes that are not venomous or dangerous. This one had a pointed head and we both almost stepped on it. Within 6 feet of the last one(rattler) a few weeks back. So, he met his demise. I will continue to learn to recognize species. Don't beat yourself up about it. It was a snake and not like it is doomed to extinction. I've killed many since I was a kid and today they are still here. If it runs away when I see it, I let it go. If it is in my yard, coils up and rares back like it will strike me, it will meet Mr. Hoe.

Just a harmless ratsnake trying to keep your yard free of vermin. One of the better ones to keep around.
I hate photobucket.

I just don’t fall into the only dead snakes are good snakes. God knew what he was doing when he designed this place.

This reminds me of Ernest Paty - Crappie mentor to a whole lot of folks on the TFF and even a few on here in the OT. When someone said something about what kind of snake it was.... “What do you mean what kind of a snake!?? It was a SNAKE!!

Should still be alive rat snake +1, I hate it when the neighbors kill good snakes. Learn to identify them and let the good ones go. Some of them even eat the bad ones.
