My brothers and me are renting an airbnb house near lake Whitney and town of Blum this weekend. I thought I'd drag the bass boat down and maybe do some fishing while there. I have never been to Whitney, so have no idea where to start. probably launch at state park, since i have a parks pass and wouldn't know where else to go. Would like to find some stripers, and will have to use artificial bait, so hope that would work this time of year. Any advice would be appreciated. I dont want anyones secret spots or gps cordinates, just some general advice on whats working and general publicly known parts of the lake. Any info will be much appreciated, Thanks in advance!

The state park shore is where I see boats. 20’. Not that I’ve done much good there. Ive slabbed up a 10†striper and a drum the last two trips while drifting with bluegill and perch the first time, and with large minnows the second. Fish come and go on my screen. Maybe I should work harder for shad.

Fishing for stripers on Whitney has been sporadic lately. The state park is a good place to start. The point usually holds striper and other fish. Work down the state park bank to the east. There is a rocky peninsula about half way (0.8 miles) down the bank that usually has some fish. Watch for birds feeding or fish hitting the surface out in the open water.

When I dont have live bait but still want to get out, I will troll hell-pets and a big umbrella rig with swimbaits down those points on each side of the channel coming out of state park and down the rocky ledge going southeast from the channel. usually can find a fish or two there.
