I think fishing is the most humbling sport out there even though our successes can be rewarding. I believe it's all about our skills, decision making on the water and being in the right place at the right time. I believe practice is important but following your gut while on the water ranks even higher with me. This past Saturday's success was credited to making an adjustment during the last hour we fished. This simple decision totally changed the outcome of our day. We had fished this spot three times earlier during the day putting four keepers in the box on it. We tried other good spots with no luck and even went shallow but caught only dinks there. We knew the shallow game wasn't going to cut the mustard so we checked a couple more places off shore but didn't see anything there worth casting at. We decided to return to our first spot and it proved to be a good one. Not long after our arrival we added a four pounder to the livewell to complete our limit. We continued to fish the spot for a while and picked up another keeper and culled our smallest fish with it. Realizing we had beaten this water to death I decided we needed to make an adjustment. I changed our boat position about fifty yards and caught our three biggest bass in a matter of minutes. If I hadn't listened to my gut and moved the boat the outcome would have been a lot different for us. This was my second win on Rayburn in the last three years and both times a simple decision to follow my gut made a big difference. I have listened to a bunch of professionals and competitive amateurs credit decision making for their success on numerous occasions. If y'all need a good partner and the best net man on the planet well your outta luck because he's mine. This guy can grab the net, kick two of your rods off the deck, save the rods and net the fish all in one motion. I guess his backhand netting wasn't good enough to prove his skill so he repeated the process again on our biggest bass of the day. You talk about talent! Yes he did this twice during the tournament and saved the rods and fish. Both times I was telling him to get the fish don't worry about the rods. lol Our day didn't start off good with cranking battery issues and we had multiple problems during the day but we'd shake it off and keep on grinding. With everything that went wrong during our day it was easy to see God's hand in our success! Tight lines! ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2019/10/full-93943-28997-combs_slam_039.jpg)
