Sam Rayburn delivered another two limits, Saturday and Sunday. None under 11 inches. None over 15. Can't argue with success like dat. Warning: This is my opinion and I am the worlds formost authority on my opinion. Your mileage may vary.

Sandspike,
LOL...that's good stuff. Up our way in N-Central TX, I'd say in the immediate D/FW Metro area, Ray Roberts, Weatherford, or Grapevine (of course w/the disclaimer that it's my opinion as well).
I know Tawakoni, Fork, and Cedar Creek are pretty good too, but unless I find someone who has a boat to go out with, I rarely go that far.

I don't know about the best lake in TX for crappie since this State of ours is so big, and I don't know when I will be able to fish every lake thoroughly to give an accurate opinion. However, as far as the immediate within reach of the metro plex, then it must be Lake Worth (assuming there was never a ban). Lake Worth would be considered as the quantity/quality lake. That's my .02

as far as quantity goes for my area i would say richland chambers but quality i would have to say lake palestine. I have caught a good bit of them over 2lbs at palestine but only about one out of every 30 are that big on richland. my PB on palstine is 2.4
Its your story, tell it how you want.

Now look what you have done, Sandspike. You brought out everyones OPINION and they are all different than mine and yours. Of course my opinion on that subject is aligned with yours. It is a great lake to fish for crappie. I guess there is only one way to settle this, some of the folks from the other lakes could invite some of the Rayburn folks for a fishing trip. Of course our scientific results may require several inspection trips to verify. What do you think? Good job Sandspike. See you later Jim

Just my opinion, but it would be hard to beat Rayburn and or Toledo Bend. From what I hear about Rayburn since it's been a pretty long time since I fished it (even thought it's only 25 miles from me)is that you can catch bigger fish on Toledo Bend on the norm and I am not so sure you can catch more quantity there than T-Bend. A friend that lives on Rayburn and fishes crappie a good amount told me he had been catching a lot of real nice crappie, but none like the big ones we get over here on T-Bend (over 15"). Personally I can't say that for sure as it's been so long that I fished Rayburn. Catching a limit here on T-Bend is much harder since the limit is 50 per person.
Both are excellent crappie waters, but I also have to add I have never fished any of the lakes up around you guys in Dallas. I really never felt the need since there is such productive water here. From what I know about Fork it would seem a good crappie lake with all that wood in it like this lake.

there are no crappie at tawakoni everyone knows that come here to catfish, sandies, hybrids or stripers but leave your crappie jigs at home
