I'm the farthest thing from a mechanic on this forum, but here goes...

2009 Silverado 1500 Z71 4x4

So I went to do my emissions and was told 4 of the monitors haven't reset. I've driven 2-3K miles since the last time the battery would have been disconnected. So I feel reasonably comfortable I done the required drive cycles since a lot of my driving is on the highway. My mechanic said it isn't throwing any codes, but suspected it could be a issue with a ground. He said I should go to the dealership, who said they can't reset it, and I need to deal with the govt to try and get an extension.

Anyone else ever come across this issue? Any ideas what could cause the monitors not to reset. I was planning to trade it in, and they'll just wholesale it so it's not a big deal, but I'm wondering if it's something easy.

Sorry to hear this. Gov Newsom thinks you don't need that truck. You should get some kind of prius. Your electicity must be cut for 2 weeks.

try another battery disconnect and drive it over 100 miles. i know 30 seconds will do with the neg cable disconnected but try 20 minutes and then turn your headlamps on for a little bit then off before you reconnect, it can't hurt to try it at this point. do you drive like granny?

Do you have a programmer on your truck? I have to unplug mine a few days before I get an inspection. My emissions stuff shows not ready if I don’t.

If you don’t have a programmer then you need to unhook you’re battery for a while. Then research what a drive cycle consists of. Do that along with driving 100 or more miles.

I have a 2011 Silverado. My Evap never resets but they will pass it with one showing not ready.

I just realized you are in CA. There are all sorts of YouTube’s on smog testing on cars out there in the land of the hippies.

Vehicle is stock. I'll check out Youtube. They can't even test it because of the reset issue, so it's not like I'm tryng to get it to pass, I'm just trying to get it so they can start the test.

Spanky, thanks. I thought about that and will try that as well. I drive like an asshat. If anything I'm worried I haven't maintained the right highway speed because I usually drive in the 80-90 range
