Yep, we will all have less money for fishing expenses if the state of Texas starts having a state income tax. On Nov. 5, vote YES on proposition 4 to PROHIBIT the state from charging a state income tax. None of us want that. It will cut into our fishing budget. The state collects enough tax from us already. Next time you get gas, look at the sticker on the pump and you will see how much tax the federal and state government are charging you PER GALLON..... Too much.

If they'd roll property taxes back to reality I would at least listen to a pitch for a state income tax.

I want a flat tax. I am tired of paying while some others don't. This includes school taxes. Like so many people, I don't have any kids in school anymore. Why should I have to support them? The only thing I get now from all of these schools is traffic lines. I am also tired of paying ever increasing property taxes. The taxes on my house and yard tripled this last year. Who's to say it won't triple again next year?

Misread the OP. I was thinking he meant proposition 5, not proposition 4. My mistake.

Proposition 4 will amend the constitution to require a 2/3 vote to create any future income taxes. I would be happy if they brought in gambling taxes and got rid of property taxes

It just seems like there are a lot of people who rent or live in apartments that don't pay a property tax. I would rather see low property tax and an income tax instead.

Google what the average state income tax is on states that collect it. Seems to run between 3% and 5%. They could roll back my 7k property tax to zero and I'd still come out taking home less
