Well, got a wild hair and though I wanted to try spider rig fishing. Went and bought a bunch of stuff. got all set up and to the lake I went. spider fishing is a lot of work.
I must have looked like some kind of nut with poles hanging ever were and hafe of them tangled up. No fish but had a good time.

I got all set up and went to Lewisville by the dam and rigged up six poles. Dropped each tipped with two minnows and prepared to start to slowly move forward over the intended area. Then all hell broke loose when all the rods started to bow down with fish. Fish were swimming in all directions and managed to make a huge ball of line, hooks, weights and 12 fish wondering what the heck just happened.

Sounds like it was a huge success but was more of a major disappointment when they turned out to be sand bass . I just cut the lines, licked my wounds and swore off trying that again and then went off and caught a limit of crappie one-poling jigs.

Lol! That sounds like my experience on Fork! I only had 4 rods and all heck broke loose! One was a lake record though so that was cool I guess!

I'm glad I didn;t invest in a good setup for it all with Livescope now. No need to tangle up 8 rods when I can drop 1 right on their beak!

Fork is not an ideal lake for spiderigging. I have done it a few times around the dam area and was successful. but it limits the areas you can fish.

I use my spider rigging rod holders on Fork in the winter for dead sticking. It has seriously improved my numbers. I use my Xi5 to keep me in place and sit back and watch for the thump. You can keep your hands in your coat pockets for warmth and only take them out when you get a bite. So much more comfortable on a cold day on the water. It is greatness.
