Yep. None of my family had ever been to college, but for some reason I knew I wanted to be a lawyer and spent a lot of money to prepare for it, so I did. cool

Yes. Graduated with a degree in Computer Science. Started out with Texas Instruments, but left after 5 years due to office politics. Went into Healthcare IT and been doing it for the last 30 years.

#1 , I hated math. I Hoovered at it all through school. # 2. I was actually removed from typing class. I Hoovered at it too. The teacher said more than likely I would not have a career that would require that job skill.

Now I spend 10-12 hours a day in front of a computer typing away....working #'s.

in a nutshell though. My career picked me, I didn't pick it.

I still hate math, I still hoover at typing.

Took plenty of drafting in HS, mostly architecture. I designed a house and church that I did while in high school. Both were built.

Took that drafting knowledge to IBM. Worked my way through from Selectric assembler to draftsman to mechanical engineer and then when IBM decided to dump, they offered me a discipline I am currently working, PCB design. Was there for 18 years before jumping ship to Nvdia and have been here for 19 years.

So, sort of.

During an American History class as a junior in high school I came to the realization that every generation of Americans had a war. I wondered what would be mine. It wasn't too many years later I found out there was this strange place called Viet Nam. It turned into a profession....Marine Corps and aviation, as a pilot.

Those careers were never on my mind in high school.

Turned out great.
