I had just gotten my boat out of the shop due to a bad stator. Jumps on plane with just me but when I add another person it’s slow to plane. I’ve got a 94 skeeter zx200 dual console with a 94 200 merc, running 25p tempest prop. Also I do have power poles on it, not sure if that would cause a problem. I also noticed my motor sits low in the water. I understand how to basics work but wondering if I need a different prop or some other issue.

Your prop should have removable vent plugs. Those allow exhaust to help your prop spool up and go quicker. Easy enough to dial in. With your full two people load take one out at a time until the prop blows out then put the last one back in. There are multiple sized plugs to tweak it exact.

What are your WOT rpms? My first thought is a 23 Tempest. This is what ran best on my 18' Ranger 375V with a modded 175 BlackMax. After the mods my mechanic put it on the dyno and said it was running as good as most 200s. I had my Tempest blueprinted and balanced by Steve. You might have Josh take a look at that prop. He can also tell you what would run best on your boat. I wish I had talked to him before I bought a prop for my Champ.

Josh took over the prop shop from Steve. He is in Emory now I believe. Sounds like you are in the right range for WOT RPMS. You spinning 5800 in the summer. Check the plugs on the prop and maybe consider some cup. A 23 is going to put you over 6000. On good fuel and air and a light load my Black Max turned 6250.

Those power poles will affect your holeshot. May require you to step down on prop pitch, or have the prop reworked.
