Went out chasing bass on Lake Arlington today. Didn’t get a bite, but I did run across a pretty good sized alligator in the back of a cove...
As far as the fishing went, I threw a spinnerbait, square lipped crank, swim jig, lipless crank, and a tx rigged senko, and even a frog for a while... Other than a chatterbait, buzz bait, and a stickbait, I feel like I threw it all. I was in the back of coves, at the dam, and even fished some docks.
Don’t know where I’m going wrong. Any pointers?

Lol yeah, maybe so... I did hook into a solid 4 pounder Saturday on Arlington. Got my hopes up I guess. There is definitely a lot of trash in & around that lake!

I just got my boat and have been to Lake A about half dozen times. Seems to be a fickle lake and trying to figure where these fish like to hold there. Last 3 times out were finding fish early am shallow. Senkos, flukes and bandito bugs. Nothing on any moving bait. Have a friend who caught an 11.1 out there in June and seem some big bass come out of that lake. Just can’t seem to pattern them yet.
What cove did you see that gator? I’ve heard there was a big one out there.
Good luck

There is no bass in LA. Benbrook would be closer and has more fish.

It was in the cove just south of McCray park.
I’ve seen a lot of pictures of quality fish coming out of Arlington, but I agree with you. They’re hard to catch. Baitfish were busting all around us. Maybe I’ll try a Zara Spook or something next time... I haven’t jumped on the Whopper Plopper train yet, so maybe that’s an option too. Or perhaps I need to slow down and throw some soft plastics.

I love fishing Benbrook! Caught my PB outta there. It’s just really low right now, and I’m not sure if the ramps are still open.

Benbrook's empty of bass, Arilington is a much better choice.

Arlington has always been hit or miss but mostly miss for me. There are some big ones in there though. The guys who have figured it out seem to have no problems catching them there any time. The fact that it is so small, especially when the ski boats are out and Joe Pool is so close, I'd rather go to J. Pool or Grapevine.
