Most hold fish. Problem with my buddies who have boats is they're too cheap to purchase a GPS, so we spend like the first hour or two locating these suckers on his old graph.
But yes, they hold fish. Finding them is the fun part.

Wind is the biggest problem. Most piles are pretty good size, so if you have electronics you shouldn't have too much problems finding them. Yes GPS is something worth checking into! Have caught some nice sized 2+ on some piles out on the west side. My favorite color is blue flake and chart., black chart., and red and chart. sometimes tipped w/minnow.

Yes, any kind of wind component from the NW or SE, can make for a windy day on this lake.
Anything (jigs)with white in it usually works well too (white/chart, white/orange, white/pink).

The corp brushpiles actually 'use' to be real brushpiles (many tree piles cabled to the bottom), but have since settled to the point of being more 'rubish' piles than brush piles. They'll still hold fish, but you can find better places to fish on RR.

Jimmy Houston mentioned them on his show a while back as he and ole Mr Crappie were fishin 'em. They did catch some NICE crappies, but after all...it is a fishing show!

Do yourself a favor and take one day to drop three or four piles mark them and youll have your own honey hole make sure to put them in places to stay out of the wind. I know it sounds like a lot of work but in the long run youll be glad u did it.
