These things happen on a regular basis but since Briles is involved it gets reported. Similar moves have been noticed at Allen, Southlake Carroll and Katy with less fanfare. Winning coaches attract winning players. ( see Nick Saban )

Mt Vernon is just down I-30 from us. Folks I talked to over there stated no athletic transfers were allowed. They would accept transfers but could not play sports their first year. Obviously these kids were ruled eligible at one time per the article. The coach not on staff is interesting. Almost every small town in NE Texas has atleast a couple volunteers that help coach, etc. Curious to see how that shakes out. Mt Vernon will do everything in their power to win this. To much on the line. Been a long time since Mt Vernon was 5-0. Even if the wins get wiped out they can run the table and still make playoffs.

So the kids were ruled eligible before the season started and then ineligible after they started winning. Would the superintendents of the other 6 schools have even convened if they were 0-5. Seems to me that they were playing by the rules of the original panel. They will win the appeal. If that’s the case, then Aledo needs to forfeit 10 years of wins. They have kids moving in from all over the place and all kiinds of daddy “coaches”.

ESPN is reporting the players were initially deemed eligible to play because their parents moved to Mt. Vernon for employment. Since the meeting, there has been evidence that this is not the case and that they moved for athletic purposes only. Seems a hard one to prove, but Briles’ programs will always live under a microscope.
