Man that is a bonafied disaster, Looks like at least 10 fish and that zoomed photo is simply gut wrenching...well...it’s almost like a pile of baby seals. I’m not sure a 90,000acre lake can absorb that. RIP Falcon...better move the tourneys to Choke probably more fish there now. Falcon is only 34,000 acres right now.

Saw that first picture and figured dem Cajun done found their way to Falcon. Man that wouldn’t have been good had they made it back to Louisiana and told all their Podnahs.
But according to some thousands of Cajuns do this every day on Toledo Bend, so I’m sure Falcon will survive this.

If you tournament fish you are killing bass there's no two ways about it. The best studies I have seen show anywhere between 15% and up to 50% mortality rate when you look at survival 7 days after release.
Water temp matters. How the fish are cared for matters. But don't fool yourselves and think that if your fish swim away none of them died later. Riding around in your Live Well it's pretty stressful. If you don't believe me give it a try yourself.
Falcon will be fine but yeah... education and doing what we can do to keep a closer to that 15% is critical.
That said Falcon will be alright. Ill be down there soon to prove it.

Gonna bet tournament fishernen kill more fish than meateaters. Hell i release 99% of the bass i catch. Bet i kill more than my buddies that keep a limit everytime they go out. I spend waaay more time on the water than these guys and im going to bet a significant number of tournament fishermen on here spend more time on the water than me. I only remember 1 fish that has been weighed in from my boat that died, but it was over 9 lbs and caught in 30-40' of water. Did everything we could to save her, but didnt have a venting tool on the boat. Used to catching fish in 5'of water in Louisiana. Wasnt prepared for a deepwater fish. I educated myself and now im prepared for anything, but i know i will still kill somefish due to delayed mortality. Just because they were alive the last time you saw then, does not mean they will all live. Would be hypocritical of me to criticize someone else for keeping a limit of fish for a picture or to filet and eat.

Unfortunately that pretty much happens daily down at the dam from May to September. The meat hunters trolling those crank baits always make me cringe when they hook up. I think the best bet to protect the population of big fish at Falcon is to introduce a slot limit. That'll take care of most of the issues mentioned above and the low water periods won't result if the fish population depletions we see now.

I think the best bet to protect the population of big fish at Falcon is to introduce a slot limit. Or we don’t fix something that is not broke. Some people fish to eat. Some people catch and release and only fish for fun. Some people fish tournaments. We can all co-exist together on the same lake and no group of fishermen have any more right to the resource than the others.
