Well tonight while Catfhing, I went to set the hook on what I thought was a Cat, and it ended up being a Watermocassin. This sucker was hostile too. I caught the darn thing on bottom with a minnow. I didn't have a machete, so I bashed him with a massive rock. Sucker was hissin and spittin at me too! I hate snakes!

Anybody else ever caught a snake?

On throw lines, but never on a rod and reel.

I have never caught one, but have dealt with many at night. They get around the minnow bucket, in fish baskets and attach to stringers of fish. I use lots of caution now when getting bait or a fish basket out of the water.

Wasn't there a myth or wives tale that said a water mocasin could not bite under water???

Yeah that snake was ticked. I had to hold the pole while he went big rock hunting. He was making a nose like cats do when they are peeved. I just know he wasnt happy about being ripped out of the water and onto the bank. I almost dropped my pole and went home.

had one wrap up in my line at the NTACATS tourney at cedar creek the 12th...not sure how it happened but it was wrapped all up in the line, hit it on the head then cut the line

Oh, c'mon guys. If you reach down to them and rub them on their bellies, they just roll over like a dog and you can just easy as pie, take them off the hook. Done it a hundred times...NOT.

I killed a diamondback water snake today. Walked up on it and scared the *!@% out of me.
