TPWD is proposing new regulation changes when it comes to trotlines and other gear. Most go unmarked and unchecked. I have had my share of them in my trolling motor, prop, and catching them as well. I have checked some that looked old and released fish that had rusty hooks in their jaw or they were dead and half eaten by turtles. What are your views on jug lines, trotlines, limb lines, etc?

Falcon is the best. I like dodging Nets. My feeling is that all should be tagged by the owner and taken up after use.

I think trot lines tied between stumps and stuff should be illegal. Lines run on jugs are fine since they are visible and easy to tag.

I just cut them all. I constantly get boat hung in line. Limb lines aren’t any better trying fish a tree and there’s 10 per tree. It’s aggravating since most never check there lines!!

I demanded a gear tag on each lure bass fishermen use.

I think if you put out a trotline or jug's is o k as long as it is removed after your through fishing, It's the ones that are left behind that's the problem.

you may be breaking the law. I agree that trot lines that aren't checked are a problem, but if the fisherman put them out legally, who are YOU to damage/destroy his gear? Would you want him throwing your rods overboard because he doesn't like bass boats?

I think just like hunting state land. Your stand can only be up for so many hours then you move it.

I think the TPW requires you must have it marked. One step farther you must run/check it every 24 hours or move or remove it every 48-72 hours.

That way some are not there for 10 years doing nothing but harm.

I hit 2 one night first one doing about 50 and the boat just slowed to a stop.It was a long night and I never took that shortcut again.

I dont really care for the lines but as long as they are marked so I dont get hung up in them or hit them with the boat then I really cant complain. The ones I dont like are the ones left behind or strung up just under the surface where they create a hazard for other people on the water. No different than me breaking of 50lb braid right at my reel and leaving it floating for somebody to hit and screw up a lower unit

The lake mudd is talking about they never mark anything and they will leave them after they are done. He made it sound like he intently looks for them but that’s not the case. Just aggravating when you can tell the line has been out for months and it’s not labeled with dead fish on it. Earlier this year i had to save a grey heron from a limb line because they never remove them when done.
