Anyone ever used stubbys bait on trotlines? Was wondering if it will stay on the lines using treble hook?

You’ll want to borrow a technique from steelhead fishing—spawn sacks. Atlas Spawn Sac, is one to look up and get their “magic” thread too—you won’t have to tie a single knot. You can use a circle hook after you build up a stock of sacks. The actual work is only a moment more than putting Stubby’s on a treble hook and you can (I do) make them long before hitting the water.

I’ve never used it on a trotline. I like the above mentioned idea though. It stays on our treble hooks just fine on rod and reel. Cooler months I bet it would do just fine. I have a guy in my town that goes twice a year and puts it on lines and does well. Never done it myself though. Catch plenty with one rod in my hand. Stubby and I caught 100 or so yesterday in 3 hour or so on rod and reel.

Littlewheel, if you don’t mind telling, how deep were those fish y’all caught yesterday?
