Chicago is complete misery in December, it is going to suck, much to cold of a climate for habitation. Pray that the skies are clear, if you get the raw deal of having some wintery mix precipitation on a travel day, it is suckXinfinity. Its now a 2-3hr commute to the airport, then massive 5hr delays with flights just cancelling, eventually. Plan for a short period of anarchy if there is a blizzard during your trip. Change locations if it is at all possible, don't worry about staying on Michigan Ave though, that is the least worrisome of your potential future afflictions. Wonderful city to visit late Spring- early Fall though. While first reading this^^ I thought...there’s no way the Chicago Chamber of Commerce can use any of these quotes. But the you wrote that last sentence and totally redeemed yourself!

Chicago is much better than going to NYC, but late late spring is the time to go.

From your description, I’m glad we made that decision.

Spare JAYC's lovely wife and daughter from the extreme cold and snow that is ordinary in December Chicago, provide them with above average temps.
Thanks, Dfitz This is a letter I just wrote for you, to Zeus. I care.

Go to Wrigley Field and have a beer and pretend you were there the evening of November 2, 2016. And maybe take a second beer, maybe a Bud, and pour it at the base of the Harry Caray statue.

Been there in January before. Wind chill at a blistering -37. Driving by Soldier Field was pretty cool.

My son goes there for his job time to time and loves it. He took my wife once in February and Chicago and she loved it, said it was a cool city with a lot to see. We plan on going this year ourselves.

Ride the El , which is a subway that is partially elevated. If you've never ridden on a subway, it will be worth the experience.
