I am contemplating buying a Fish Pro 155 and am mainly wanting one because of it's ease to put in the water with my Ranger. Just wondering if many have used one to run jugs and/or trotlines in the lakes/rivers and your likes or dislikes. Thanks

Never fished off one. Sure looks fun for some summer fishing but your gonna freeze your tail off in the winter and you won’t be able to take anybody with you when you go fishing. For 13k you can get a heck of a fishing boat that you can take friends and family fishing. Your ranger should be able to pull a small aluminum boat boat no problem and probably even have enough $$ left over to buy electronics.

I agree with El Gato. Also, one of the tougher things I’ve seen done is backing those little trailers down a ramp—you can’t keep track of them and your reverse cam isn’t the help you think it would be. Also, space on the thing is going to be an argument. Where’s your gear plus any fish you catch, going to go? Jugging and trotlining says you’re looking for numbers. A stringer doesn’t hold many fish.
Recommendation:
Get a fun jet ski and enjoy it. Pick up an old used (aluminum) boat for your fishing and beat on it—catfish won’t complain, though the bass might ‘Course parking might be a problem.

back in the day I have ran a few jugs from my Jet Ski (kaw 750) when it was too windy for the wife to take the oat out. and I will say, it is NOT safe. Hooks, legs and fins.. not to mention, space to hold them while checking other jugs and running back. I put a few holes in the seat, to keep them from my leg, as for Trotline, it would just not be safe.. just the opinion from someone who had to do it before if you want to Catch Sandbass and Catch and Release, this may not be an issue, but cats (especially small ones) can be a sad day for you and the ski.

Not sure what the price tag nowadays would be, but I use my cousin's 14' long (wide, not slim) MonArk aluminum flat bottom. I have a squared "U" 4x4 beams on top of the railing up front. Then we have treated wood fence planks on the outside front, down the sides, and partially around the corners of the back. It has a 25 HP Evinrude motor, along with an old tilt trailer (for problem areas (dropping or pulling out boat). We also have an add-on plank to keep the spray off the one who is running the motor. We have had as many as 3 bilge pumps, two batteries, an array of light switches, plus ones for the bilge pumps. A simple Cuda (made by Eagle) fish finder which has survived after the boat rolled over in a storm in 2003. We have used a Rubbermaid 55 gallon tub with lid behind the middle seat, along with a bait aireator (sp?) used to keep fish alive. A set up of 1 1/2" PVC pipe & fittings to set dipnets, gaffs, and such in. And still had room for gear up front & back.

I forget what the model # on the Cuda unit is (I would have to find my manual or go out & uncover the protector PVC tube with cap) but it was the first one they came out with & got it in 2002 or 2003. The next unit they had was a Cuda 168, then came a Cuda 300 (which I bought for my uncle for a birthday present in 2010). But he decided not to fix up an old boat, so I bought it back from him for the 12 footer. We did use it several times on my sister's 12' Porta-Bote. In the Porta-Bote, we have also used the Portable fish finder from Harbor Freight Tools. You put it into a small plastic pail of water & let it float & set bucket behind back seat.

We have had the big tub full of fish & had to put more in a spare ice chest. I have a new 12' AlumaCraft flat bottom. I have set the special front up in almost the same fashion (as to the beams). However, there is little spare room for a 55 gallon tub, as well as too much extra gear. Not to mention if I have to tangle with a 70+ cat.

Will it work? Yes. Is it safe? No. For that price you could get you a used 16’ side console aluminum boat with a 40HP in good shape that would be a fishing machine or, a 14-16’ Jon boat with a tiller steer and still have money left over for a wave runner. In all honesty (serious) it’s not safe for you to try to run lines on something like that and, if you have a buddy with you it’s definitely not safe for y’all or (joking) other boaters because if I see a couple guys doubled up on wave runner checking lines I’m liable to fall out of my boat laughing my butt off

I used to drive a ranger and had no troubles with a 14 foot aluminum boat with a small motor. I agree with the others about having a room on a jet ski to fish...sounds like a nightmare. You could build a raft and pull it behind the jet ski like a trailer lol...
