While I was running across the lake yesterday, My motor revved up like I had a sheer pin snap, ( the mercruiser does not have sheer pins ) . I lost all power to the prop. No fwd. or reverse. Any Ideas what my problems is ? Thanks, Bill

Thanks John for the response. No , It is not the spun hub , you cac put it in gear and turn the prop by hand , and the shaft turns also.
Thanks, Bill

Sounds like the driveshaft is broken or the upper housing gears are stripped from being low on gearlube or the engine coupler is stripped...OPTI
