Depends on how much you want sausage, and how quick you want it.

I've checked the box size on USPS and it's 259$ overnight. 2 days is like 59$ both prices are only 1 way.

Order one (or a knock off) off amazon and have it delivered to the sausage guy with free 2 day shipping. He fills with meat and ice and ship it back using the cheapest option. If packed tight, the ice will easily last for a 3-4 day trip.

I order crab and have it sent from Maryland several times a year. They are shipped in cardboard boxes with the thick walled stryofoam sides. The shipper throws in a few packs of the cheap reusable ice packs and fills the empty void in the box with paper. They take 2-3 days to ship from Maryland to Texas and have always been frozen solid when they arrive here. Throw in several of the ice packs and have your friend freeze them before shipping the box back to you. You might even come out cheaper having him purchase the boxes and ice packs locally instead of shipping them both ways.

How expensive? How important is it to you? I only ask because of risk/reward. If it was important enough to me, I would overpay in order to hedge my bet on receiving it in good order.

As long as the sausage is frozen as well, the dry ice will hold it for up to four days. It will stay cold for several more so if you are "needing" it, it should still be good to go.

Good lawd! That’s almost like a $200 difference.
