We discussed that one weeks ago. The latest shoot was when the kid had a BB gun designed to look like the real thing. If it had an orange barrell maybe they could have hesitated but since it did not...bang, bang maxwell silverhammer came down upon his head.

I guess the guy had just gotten divorced and was being investigated for taking "inappropriate videos" of children. Thats what I heard reported on Fox local news just a few minutes ago.

I had to make that judgement call a few years ago, and the bb gun looked like the real thing to me. Had a number of factors that went into my split-second decision to hold my fire, but things could easily have gone the other way because, as far as I could tell, the moron was pointing a gun at me.

I will not armchair quarterback the cops who have to make that same call and shoot.

I don’t know whether I learned it at some point or if it was hard-wired in my DNA at birth, but it seems like I’ve always known that if I pointed a gun (or something that could be construed as looking like a gun) at LEO’s, one potential outcome would be me getting shot.
