The worst possible thing for our planet would be extending life expectancy any more than it is.
There is some risk, but here's a few things to think about. 1. The olds are rapidly becoming the only sane people left on the planet. Their wisdom is useful. A few examples of “sane” olds: Bernie Hillary Nancy Sheila J Lee The guy who thought Guam would tip over John McCain (only time I ever rooted for cancer to win) My mom We need far fewer olds walking this earth.

I read the entire article. Meh.
Get with the times. A headline is all we need as a society these days.

There is some risk, but here's a few things to think about. 1. The olds are rapidly becoming the only sane people left on the planet. Their wisdom is useful. 2. We are talking about extending healthy productive life. Imagine if we could stave off cancer, heart disease, degenerative disease by twenty or thirty years in most people. That would literally inject TRILLIONS of dollars per year into the global economy through increased productivity and decreased medical expenditures. 3. In the coming decades our species will be expanding beyond this planet. We'll colonize the moon and mars and who knows where else in the coming generations. The problem with your first point is, the insane young people will then live to be 127 and perpetuate their insanity for much longer. The problem with your second point is, living longer does not equal productivity. We already see companies hiring younger, inexperienced workers because they’re cheaper and layoffs to cut overhead, often because the people who’ve been there for 25 years are expensive. The problem with your third point is, I don’t think either of us can be certain of that happening, and how it would impact the overpopulation of Earth, even if it did. Who decides who has to live on those planets? Will that really alleviate overpopulation? I’m not convinced.

I'll go when my maker is ready for me, it's not up to science.

It’s usually not a good idea to mess with gods will or force something that is completely unnatural it usually has bad and catastrophic outcomes. There’s a reason we don’t already naturally live to be 120 who on earth wants to be that dang old anyway.

Well I'm fine with all you guys dying. As long as I can stay healthy and active I plan to try and hang on. Now that said, I will not hang on for 10 years living as an invalid hooked up to a feeding tube having some lady named Rhonda wiping by backside while getting visited by my kids once a month because "you have to fight until the bitter end." I plan to go elegantly as soon as I can no longer take care of myself. If I get to the point I can no longer take care of myself and they are gonna put me in a home. I'll take a nice cocktail of pain meds smoke a joint and drink a couple of beers and go to sleep face down in a pillow.......Bye

These posts never seem to attract much attention on here, which is strange to me given the number of olds. That said, scientists for the first time were able to reverse aging in a small number of people with a chemical cocktail. https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-019-02638-wAging is a disease. We are rapidly leaning how to fight it. I'm not sure we will ever cure it, but I believe living to 120 while still functional will become common in my lifetime. (currently 37). I hope I can keep myself together long enough for science to hit it's next grand slam in longevity. At 37 you feel like living forever would be a Great Thing. As you age into your 60's you realize living "forever" would be the worst thing. As you age different sysytems in your body begin to change and break down. Each of us age differently but none of it is Good. When was the last time you were at the store and thought to yourself, "Boy that 60 year old lady looks Hot". So as a Guy if you can't look Hot or feel Hot, Living forever is somehow much less exciting.
The Truth is six of the seven Dwarfs are not Happy!
