We are paying around $1200 for the two of us. After Obama Care kicked in, we were really restricted on our doctors and had high deductibles. Elizabeth should have had spinal fusion last year, but we had huge difficulties with BCBS getting us to the right doctors. We would start working with one team of spine doctors, they would call for scheduling surgery, then BCBS would deny the claim. It was a mess and super frustrating. Elizabeth finally got L4 L5 fusion May 8th this year and it went really well. All in we paid less than $5000 for a surgery that was $150,000 plus. I'm actually sorta happy with BCBS again.

She had pelvis reconstruction years ago from a scooter accident that lead to the early spinal problems.

The solution to any problem - work, love, money, whatever - is to go fishing, and the worse the problem, the longer the trip should be. --John Gierach

And yet, a whole lotta left wingnuts still preach that Obamacare is awesome. Let's elect some more of them so they can f#@k up everything else in this country.

Damn. That sounds awful (her injuries and the insurance BS). How is she feeling after the fusion?

Our insurance for family is crazy high. I need some options.

BCBS but we have a 10,000.00 deductible and zero copays.

I'm retired from military and would rather be ran over by a bus then seek treatment at a VA clinic. TriCare Prime is only $590 a year and Goodfellow AFB takes retirees and their family members and they actually have a great group of doctors at their clinic. Co-pay for referrals to outside care are only $15 a visit. Had a spinal fusion done a little over 3 years ago at local hospital. When it was all said and done for pre and post op it only cost me about $300 out of pocket.

Can't get Prime where I am at, so on TriCare Select for the wife. No premium, but have the higher deductible and co-pays. But she hasn't gone to the doctors in the past 6 years, so saving a boatload of money. VA has been great for me. As much as I was at the VA last year, including surgery, TriCare Select would have bitten the wallet pretty good, but still not as bad as non-Vets have to go through. Soon the wife will be going on MediCare. Have to figure that whole thing out.

May you be treated the way you treat other people, today and everyday!

I am on Medicare and it is working great for me. The downside: you must be old to qualify. I see a lot of derogatory references to "libs" on this thread. Some of the current presidential candidate "libs" are advocating "Medicare For All". Based on my decade of experience with Medicare, that makes sense to me. I would appreciate comments on this idea from those battling high health insurance costs and medical expenses who don't yet qualify for Medicare.

I want free healthcare and the $1,000 a month that Yang feller is gonna handout. Might even go to medical school too...if I don’t have to pay for it.

The only thing I need to hear to influence my vote is the word “free”. Details don’t matter.

Simple math is all that is needed. People (reads all working people) contribute around 2.9% of their earnings for 40-49 years so they can then qualify at an old age. It's no surprise it's working out for you. Kind of pitiful from a mathematical standpoint.

Cant complain myself but I know the prices are outrageous. And every politician for the last 25 years has said they were going to fix this mess of healthcare and the costs... never has happened.

I took a small pay cut coming to Topgolf from Citibank. But for the same insurance here I am paying $80 a month. I was paying over $600 a month for at Citi. So the small pay cut really resulted in a sort of raise. NOW I used to have almost 10 weeks of paid time off. Dont have that anymore but hey... cant have it all right?
