I have done my own studies on fluoro the last 8-10 years by using it in my fishing. My own personal experience is that it's worth it to me for most of my fishing. I love using fluorocarbon and use it for almost all of fishing...

been fishing for over 70 years and yet to have a conversation with a fish.....but...if I ever do,the first question is gonna be "can you see fluorocarbon better than monofilament.....second question will be do they prefer salt on their plastics.....

I'm still relatively new to bass fishing. I have tried a few FC brands and I wasn't impressed. They didn't last as long on the reel before looking cloudy (I'm guessing not very abrasion resistant) and they seemed to stretch just as much as the copoly brands I've tried.
For sensitivity, they did feel better, but it didn't seem worth the hassle. I'd rather just do braid to leader if I needed sensitivity.
I found the articles interesting.

Agree completely on the invisibility. After flipping with 20lb flouro for the last 10 years there is no way I could go back to 20lb mono. The stretch and lack of sensitivity with mono makes certain applications almost annoying. Now, I do like mono for topwaters and even some cranks. I know cranks may dive a little better with flouro but I like some stretch.

I like the 12lbs 15 lbs flouro for crankkbaits,braid for flipping and froggin,McCoy's for everything else.....some stretch in the line is a good thing for some techniques. Lakes in east texas are stained so I don't worry about them seeing the line.

No research to back. JMO. I went all in on flouro. Back to mono Tried all the "top" brands. Found it to be too "high maintenance". Constantly having to retie due to fraying, any amount of twist in the line compromised the strength, causing breaks at hook set (even after retie and the break was above the knot). Baits flying 100 yards down the lake when they break off on a cast (all breaks above the knot, if the bait would float I'd track it down and there would be several inches of line). Line memory even seemed worse to me. I'm sure at the pro level where the guys are looking for the smallest advantages and ounces matter, it might make a difference, especially mentally. But at the cost for those not sponsored by a company, and the time to re-spool every evening, all it does is increase the amount of $$/pound of fish caught.

I use all 3 types of line for different applications- The main reason I like Fluorocarbon is the smaller diameter.

I’ve had exactly the opposite experience with fluoro. My fishing went to another level with fluoro. Can’t stop and won’t stop using it. To big of a game changer. Especially when I fish derby’s.

I use FC mainly because mono has too much memory. That said, when I hang up on 15 lb big game, it’s hell getting it to break. When I hang up 15lb invisx, it’s almost too easy to break. Say what you want about knots and bla bla. Bottom line, big game is much stronger, and that’s coming from someone who uses mostly floro. I don’t have too many issues with floro as far as setting the hook and getting fish to the boat is why I still use FC. The reason Big Game is hard to break is because it stretches and stretches and stretches and stretches.

I still haven't tried fluorocarbon, but might one day. I just never had a reason to change lines because of the confidence I have in Big Game mono. I've put a lot of quality bass, stripers, hybrids, and redfish in the boat with 12-15 lb Big Game. But I might try fc just to compare and may discover I like it more.
