Looking to buy a new set this year, jacket and bibs for those cold, windy days this winter. I rarely fish in the rain but want a good suit for warmth. Aftco, Simms, Gill, Cabelas Guidewear, what are some opinions on these? I have heard negatives about huk so not really interested in those. Let’s hear it, thanks.

I have the Simms Challenger. Great value. They keep me really warm and dry.

I have both the Simms ProDry ( bibs and jacket.) and the Gill FG21 ( jacket only) . If you layer, the Simms ProDry is the best rain gear bar none. The Gill ijacket has a vent in the hood and and face flap that guards well while running the lake. The hood flap vent keeps the hood tight when running, but it gets in the way when fishing.
In cold temps. I wear the Gill.
Both Simms and Gill make a quality product and keep you dry, so you can’t go wrong either way. Just depends on how much $$$ you want to spend.

I had a set of Stormr Aero jacket and bibs and they were well made very dry. I sold them because they didn't fit me as well as they should being I am 6' 7" and they were a little short. I got a set of Cabela's Guide Wear Gore Tex as they are offered in Tall sizes. They are very well made and bone dry but I will have no need for them for a while!

Cabela's Guide Wear Gore Tex works well for me. I like the lifetime guarantee because I am hard on zippers.
GOD is good!

It doesn't get cold enough in Texas to matter. I'd go with Simms and just make sure you buy a size the fits loose enough to layer under it. It'll also work great the rest of the year when it's blazing hot here, because it's the coolest running rain gear out there. If you were fishing somewhere north where it actually get's cold, I probably would have a different recommendation.

My son and I have the Gill FG21 jacket and bibs. I haven’t used the others you mentioned but I’m very happy with the Gill FG21 and would buy again. We have the Gill lightweight inshore pants and jacket also. I like it also for the warmer months but it’s not near as good in heavy rain as the FG21.
