When we got into my RAM at 130,000 miles (water pump, gasket leak) lite-liner recommended replacing the timing chain. I thought he was crazy but went along. After it all went back together with a new (premium) chain I thought it had a new engine it ran so well - better than new. OEM stuff is really just one step away from junk.

At 100K, other than checking all the fluids, what should be done (other than check the fluid levels, change oil/air filter)?

Check belts, hoses, and bushings?
Change spark plugs?
Change brake pads?
New Battery?

I used the dealer for the free oil changes and rotations. I knew I should have just done them myself after the experiences with the free ones on my Tacomas. I really got fed up them showing me my air filters and trying to sell me a $10 cabin filter for $30. Even when I pointed out that I had a supplemental door tag calling for a different PSI they would under inflate my tires. The last straw was my first change after the free ones. I was missing bolts in skid plate and I had to use a 2' cheater bar with neighbor holding my legs to get the filter cap off. It is supposed to be tightened to 20 ft lbs. I know what 130 feels like and it was close. I broke one filter wrench and destroyed the plastic filter cap in the process. Fortunately I had purchased a metal filter cap so I had a replacement. Prior to having my Tundra serviced there I reminded the service manager about my experiences with the Tacoma. He knew them because he called me after I gave them a zero on a survey. I give you a clue as to the dealer. They are close to my house.

At 100k i would change plugs and check the other items.
I have been dealing with the same dealer/service mgr for years and thankfully I have none of these issues. There are no up sales. When they do rotate tires the PSI is correct ( I do double check ) they also torque the lug nuts back down. The 80.87$ I spend for 8 qts full syn, filter and tire rotation is well worth it to me to not have hassle with it. Added bonus is I don't even have to tell them not to wash the truck lol..

I have had 2 Tacomas and now my Tundra serviced at this dealer. I don't think you should need a long term relationship. They should get it right the first time. As far as $80.87 goes it does not cost me that for full syn and a filter plus I can do it in my driveway in less time then I spend sitting at the dealer and I know it is right. Discount does my tire rotations for free. Doesn't take much longer than getting the compressor out and checking the air in 4 tires.

To each their own I am friends with the SM where I go and usually spend about an hour up there. I don't have to run buying oil filter etc. Plus I don't have to dispose of any used filter or oil.

NP for me. I save up a few changes and stop at Auto Zone. I also do diffs and tranny so I have those fluids too. I order filters on line, buy oil at Wal Mart with other stuff, and I have a Fumoto valve so draining is a walk in the park. I change my own more for convenience than saving money. A little lift on the front gives me room. If I drove a car there is no way I would do it myself. Daughters Rav4 goes to the Honda dealer there is no way I would let her take it to local Toyota dealer. Just Google their service and you will no why.

If you haven't replaced trans fluid before now, I'd leave it alone.

A week later, the pistons blew

I can see why you would be nervous after that experience you had. Replacing a timing belt is supposed to be a proactive approach to avoid just what happened in your car when the pistons crash into the valves causing all kind of expensive damage.
