Fishing is lights out at Texoma, even with the flood and thousands of stripers that went over the dam, there is still PLENTY of stripers in the lake.

Not even sure when is the last time I fish out of my kayak on Texoma, I am guessing around Feb when I migrated to creek fishing.

We launched at 0400 hrs and headed straight to SBP, tried there for 20 mins before moving on towards the north islands. As we got close to the islands I can literally hear stripers feeding on shad. Every 15-30 seconds there will be a loud pop and we would blindly cast towards where the pop originated. This went on for close to an hour before they disappeared. ALL this action occurred in 3-4 ft deep.

When that play out we fished the flats. There were a bunch of overs tight to the bottom. I recall last year when I marked a "blip", I would drop a slab and slowly lift the slab 6-12" off the bottom they would smack the slab but not this time. Only way I could trigger a bite was through a horizontal presentation.

We did see sporadic schoolings mostly between 10-15ft of water and got lucky when a good school of overs busting shad 20 ft from us. My biggest of the day came from this school.

All in all, a pretty good day for overs. My buddy kept his limit of overs and I gave him mine.

All my stripers were caught on 2oz chartreuse slab except 1 that was caught on storm swim bait. Never had to fish deeper than 20ft today and trolling not required. 🤣

Great report, thank you!

Texoma stripers are on my list. Unfortunately, my "list" is longer than my time. LOL

Great report ! Thanks for sharing.

I have a place right on the water at the end of Preston Peninsula. I head out before light and listen for schools breaking in the dark. If nothing is happening I turn on my Humminbird 360 and can see any bait or schools within 250' radius of me. It is kind of like watching the weather radar and heading toward the marks instead of away from them. I am getting spoiled and lazy in my old age.

Fished there yesterday with some buddies of mine on our kayaks. Top water bite was crazy.

got a pic of the mount for the 360? Seriously considering the Mega 360 in December.

I try not to fish top water unless there isn't any boats around. Hence I like to fish in the dark when the boaters are still in bed. wink

Pics from Sunday. Mostly caught between 3-5 ft to as deep as 10ft. 0430-0545 and left them biting to hit another spot of mine.

Awesome fish! Always a good day when you catch a striped that goes over 30".

if you truly want to target the big fish fish stumpy area.

Gonna be an epic year with the amount of big strikers I'm seeing

ok went out 9/5/19 got out at 8 in the morning. There were few and far between striper blow ups. Caught one skinny striper and 3 largemouth thought the largemouth were about 2 pounds nothing real big. There are lots of baitfish in coves and on points. Not a bad day at least there hasnt been a skunk since ive been fishing texoma all year im sure ill get one soon though. oh and on the pic i do not have my pdf on but i always wear it had it with me realized after taking the pic i didnt have it on put it on right away. I usually put it on as soon as i get to the water i guess i was to pumped and forgot so this was a lesson for me and hopefully others go thru your checklist before hitting water like i said i had it with me but didnt put it on. Put it on right away stay safe guys
