I myself prefer the handheld remote and all the features...heading lock, cruise control, jog left, jog right etc. I believe with those features i spend less time controlling the boat than using a foot pedal. My buddy however is old school and disagrees.

Ford / Chevy / Dodge / Toyota 9 mm / 45 ACP Minn Kota / Motorguide I prefer the remote control version but probably because I have always had a boat that was too short for me to control it comfortably with a foot control being I am 6' 7". I can also let someone else have the forward part of the front deck and I can still run it.

I disagree too. While you are taking one hand away from fishing to control your boat I am continuing to cast and control the boat with my foot.
I also fish left handed (even though I am right handed) so as not to take time away from cranking while switching the rod from right to left like most of you do. Back lashes don't count. LOL

I've used tiller, foot control, and now remote. Remote is a game changer for me. I rarely use any of the special functions mentioned other than spot lock. What a tool.

I tried to convert to left handed reels for the same reason...didn't like it lol. I have 2 brand new left handed Quantum KVD in the box gathering dust due to my failed experiment. My buddy made the same argument about having to take your hand off the reel to control the boat. I believe i spend less time controlling the boat using the remote...especially with the heading lock feature.

Foot control by far. My remote is in one of the compartments somewhere I think. I literally never use it. Same with the necklace remotes for the Power Poles. Never use them at all.

I prefer the remote and also control it with the linked graphs. My foot control is somewhere in a storage compartment to use just in case I lose the remote or something. I like the open deck space free of pedals and cables!

Foot control. I have the remote in the space between the seats in case I am landing a fish and forget to put it on anchor lock from the foot control. I don't know how y'all fish and use the hand held at the same time. I have to have two hands to hold the rod and reel it in.

Nothing is going to give you more control of your boat up shallow or around docks and standing timber than a cable steer or electronic assisted cable steer. However, the wireless foot pedals like the one on the XI5 are near worthless. They have a huge delay and no touch. On my last boat I had an XI5 and i used the hand remote exclusively. However, using the hand remote does take away casting and fishing time, especially in less than ideal conditions. I currently have an ultrex and I still use the hand remote out deep. I like the jog feature out deep using the remote.

I have been using a foot control so long that it is all automatic.. Don't even know I am doing it.. I don't know how anyone that fishes like me could ever get it done in all the trees and bushes with a hand control and still fish.. But if you are fishing more open water I could see the hand control being ok..
Naw.. Naw I couldn't.. I can't see taking my hands away from fishing while I could do it with another appendage.. Without missing a lick..
I'm not that good at one handed hooksets..
But if I was guiding and not fishing I could certainly see the awesomeness of running the boat from the back..

Foot control so I can keep both hands on the rod and reel.

I fish with guys who are so adept with the foot control that it is absolutely seamless. I have never been that guy so the hand remote with control options works perfectly for me for traveling through milk runs while throwing large swimbaits.
