The rain has been great and the lake is looking great. Went out for a few hrs on monday afternoon and the lake was like glass at about 8pm. We caught a few whites trolling but did not attempt at any of the crappie.
Heavy will have to let us know something.

Yes, I've been!Sorry I haven't posted in a while, just trying to play catch up between the rain, fishing, lawn mowing and family. The lake looks great and appears to be up almost 5 feet. I don't think the crappie are going to follow the water up the bank too much, caught most of mine in the last two weeks in the 5-6 ft. range. They seem to be spawning still, all I caught were full of eggs or just getting eggs in 'em. Took my kids/grandkids from Houston out this past weekend and we found some nice fish down by White Island off the bank. I USED MINNOWS!!! I know that's hard to believe, still can't believe it myself, but trying to teach my son-in-law how to fish and had to start somewhere. My daughter , on the other hand, outfished us all(great teacher).Anyhow, I'm still fishing, didn't go this weekend, too many family thingys and all that stinking grass to mow.Hope I don't mow the dog, can't quite see her.LOL!!

Great to hear from you BKG! I feel your pain. I just got done mowing my own lawn. All the in-laws are in this weekend too. Guess I'll hang out with the crazies instead of fishing.

THANKS Heavy! I say, it ain't happenin' in this weather! Took one of our foreman for a fly casting lesson to our company fishing pond north of Andrews. It is close enough for the girls we go with to be on same lattiude as JBT. This is a make a cast catch a fish pond. You guessed it, Zip, Zero, Nada!
Cold water, cold air, rain and overcast for two weeks. Nothing is biting in this, just came to office and it is 63 deg F at 1:30 pm Saturday. More like weekend before Thanksgiving, maybe next week.
Thanks and Gig'em, Mark Fairchild

It's slowing down some. The big males are still in the sticks, you just have to know where the sticks are! Of 16 this morning, all but 1 were males. 4'-5' deep.

Sandwich Maker, just wondering if you remember a gentleman by the name of Ben Zapata? He's a friend of mine here in Lamesa, and we both lived in Snyder for a short time (me for 2 years and longer for him). Anyway, have you had any luck in the rocks this year? We caught our fair share in the sticks (3-5 feet deep) this year, but have yet to catch one any shallower than that and nothing in the rocks. We have noticed an increase in catches of smaller fish since the lake went up which has signaled (at least in previous years) that the big ones are just about done. We'll be out there next week in our tubes, so maybe we'll see you on the water. Good Fishin'.

I sure do remember Ben. Is he still working for the state?
The dinks are up against the bank right now. I'm sure glad to see them because I haven't been catching any small fish at all. It's a sign of better things to come. I haven't done any good at all on the rocks, but I haven't fished them much. There are still some big fish in the sticks, but most of them are not visible now.
I never found many females in the sticks, but I'm catching a lot of spawned out females on my brush piles in 13'. Sure thought I would have caught more females in the sticks.

The problem in trying to tell a place is that the recent rise has covered most of the cover. If you are in a boat, look towards the dam from the launch ramp. Any visilbe sticks will have more with them. Also, any sticks around Rocky Point. You'll need to be fishing 4'-5' deep. Sorry, but it's hard to tell you much with all the new water
