My wife and a couple of her friends have metal detectors. They think it's fun, I'd rather be fishing. But she says you should get a pinpointer and a good digging tool, along with the headphones, and you're on your way to riches. Or maybe it was nails and a bunch of junk, I can't remember.

FYI Bob, it is illegal to use a metal detector at any state park is this posted? No but it is in the rules. I checked it and yes, it is unlawful according to the statutes governing operations of State Parks.

I have letters from several State Parks allowing me to hunt in parks, it is generally left to the discretion of the Superintendent.

I had to get a permit from the Corps of Army engineers to hunt around Lake Grapevine parks and such.
Nothing but shrapnel shizzle found on all the parks/beaches I've been on. Does anyone know if the area was a bombing range at some time??
Some folks mouths, flat out runs their minds.
