I’ve already been warned that there’s no current and Fishing isn’t very good right now, but we’re going any way. With that said, anyone else got any tips for Bass at Caddo this time of year and these conditions? We’ll obviously try the old standbys, watermelon red flukes fished weightless, wacky worms, and cranks if we find any schoolers, but what else would you suggest trying?
We’ll be fishing grass edges along deeper water mainly. Any other suggestions? Not asking for spots at all, just general technique and conditions related ideas. Staying at Shady Glade so we typically only fish the Texas side. Is a Louisiana license required to fish on the LA side?
Thanks I’m advance for your help. I really enjoy TFF, even the wisea$$ replies.

You don’t need a La license to fish on the LA side. Just have a current TX license. I would say fishing is best right out in front of shady glade between Johnson’s and the mouth of Governments ditch. I did well a month ago on weightless Mpack shad in Houdini fishing it over the grass mats.

Thanks for the info. We fish that area as well, and to the West of GD. We also fish the docks along Big Cypress when it’s really hot.

Mark, I believe I have some of your plastics on my go rail in my Phoenix. Picked a bunch up at Fun N Sun. Going to try some Beavers, craws, and creature baits weightless this time around. We hit Caddo every chance we get. Even when the fishing isn’t great, it’s a great place to be. And the Shady Glade Chicken Fried steak isn’t too bad either.

A few small fish and a few missed strikes. Really struggling to figure out the best place to fish. Nobody on the River but there were a few scattered boats out on the main lake. Never saw anyone set a hook. They were fishing isolated trees or just open areas.

Iam heading there on September 12th for a few days! The water is pretty warm now. 85.7 to 88, but I know the shallow water fish are used to that in this lake. Lake is also lower than when we were here about a month ago. Best places we found then are about a foot deep in spots. May go up government ditch this evening and fish some docks and a few other spots we’ve done okay at. Waiting until later to give the jet skis and ski boats time to get tired.
