I didn't lose rye knob it was not on there when I bought it Why did you by it without the knob? So you put spoiled line on a reel without an tension knob and plan on fishing with it? WOW I thought I have heard of everything by now but this is a new one. LOL

OK then, after you tie on whatever lure you are going to fish with turn the knob on the left side of the reel to its maximum setting or pretty close to it and then tighten the knob on the right side of the reel so that when you push the thumb release it falls slowly to the ground. As you get used to casting it you can slightly back off on the tension on the left side first to get longer casts. Then as you get better you can back off the knob on the right side just a little. The one on the left just fine tunes the one on the right. Both knobs have the job of slowing down the spool so you don't get too many backlashes. As you change lure weights you will also need to readjust the reel settings to match what weight lure you change to.
Start out by making easy casts. Don't try to throw it hard because you will end up with a backlash. When you do get a backlash, try putting thump pressure on the tangled line and reel it one or two times then try pulling out the line. Sometimes that works. If it doesn't then pull the coiled strands and try to keep them loose to get the backlash out. Don't pull on it hard, that will just make things worse and will weaken the line. Sometimes you just can't get one out and you will have to cut it out. It has happened to all of us. Be patient, and practice, practice and you will get it.

I'm starting to like baitcaster now that I know how to cast them because before I thought when you cast one out you have to keep your thumb on the spool throughout the whole cast but I find out you just release the spool with your thumb and stop it with your thumb before it hits the water so now I have to say baitcaster aren't all that bad after alll

Did you get a parts list schematic. Maybe no big deal to order one for a few bucks, or a phone call may get you a free one.
