I must not be as big a fan of the pro bass fishermen as most of you. I would not move for a pro bass fisherman. I don’t care if that’s how they make a living. Not my problem. I’m fishing right here and I’m staying here.
Pretty rude of a guy to try to move in on my spot and say he’s a pro and needs to fish here. It even sounds ridiculous when I type it. And in Many people’s opinions you would be acting like a selfish jerk. If a guy comes up to me and says “hey man, I’m fishing for a big payday in a big derby, could I fish that water? “ and is kind and courteous about it, I can guarantee you I’m moving. I was raised right.

They wanted to grow the sport, get more people involved and more people fishing. Looks like they did it.

I think it's amusing that the people trying to make an argument in the name of civility and kindness are the same ones repeatedly labeling people as pricks, dicks, and syndromic. They're the same ones that won't grasp the irony there.
Just reposting in case it was missed.

I wouldn't ask anyone to leave. I might ask if it's okay if I fish nearby.

I take it there was a team tournament going on today? Lol, did you see the guys catch a pretty good one right next to Scott Martin, holding it up and taking pictures? They seemed to be rubbing it in a little.

being courteous on the water is not pulling up on anybody else without being ask to do so.

However, I think many believe whoever has the more expensive boat, most graphs, better wrap, bigger poles, better Jersey, etc have precedence over other tourney fishermen, non tourney fishermen, and homeowners.

I think the big question is, did he actually ask the guy to leave? If I was asked to leave a spot, I'm afraid my attitude might kick in and I would tell the guy NO. If the pro asked if he could share the spot, I would relinquish it to him. It's all about the approach. Courtesy goes a long way.
It's a shame there is so much drama in tournament fishing. It happens at all levels. I've seen guys get in to physical fights after tournaments over spots with 10-15 teams and very little money involved.
The solution to any problem - work, love, money, whatever - is to go fishing, and the worse the problem, the longer the trip should be. --John Gierach

You ever played church league softball tournaments and see the dugouts empty with bats swinging? The winners get a t-shirt lol. 3-3 basketball tournament fights. Tuesday night pool tournaments with $5 entry fee and happy hour beer are the best. It's what we do. I've never seen a fight at a golf tournament though, not that there's anything wrong with that.

It's the "WIN DAMMIT WIN!!" mentality. I was raised by a football coach that is still at it after 35 years..... I promise you I have it. That said, for me fishing is about relaxation so it's not an issue on the water.
It's only a good cast if you catch a fish... Personal Best: 11.62 lbs

I wonder what kind of reaction would occur if you tell pro-A “sorry, you should have been here 30 minutes ago. I was just asked to hold this hot spot for pro-B”.

FLW Article7:15 a.m. - Osborne has a situation
Jordan Osborne has a schooling spot where he caught a small limit to start the day yesterday. He ran there first thing this morning and found a local boat parked right on the spot. He politely asked if they'd let him fish there, but the other anglers declined, so Osborne is having to work the fringes of the school. He should be OK though. The schoolers are mostly small. Yesterday, Osborne did most of his work out on brush piles. He says the whole point of targeting the schoolers is just to get a small limit to boost his confidence. It doesn't seem like Jordan was rude. It also doesn't sound like he entered the situation feeling entitled. The local guy declined to share the fish and Jordan left. Could someone explain how this is being spun into a discussion about how tournament anglers act entitled? Some strong opinions and harsh words being shared regarding a benign situation.

Nothing seems to indicate that he was rude about his request. Nothing indicates that the local was rude either in his response. To me the posts seem to be split with followers of tournaments feeling that the local was wrong and non tournament anglers feeling the Pro was wrong to ask. The local did share the fish with him evidently, just not the spot the boat was positioned on. Pictures I saw was of the Pro still fishing that area, just having to circle around it.
