![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2019/08/full-110141-21483-photo_aug_13_8_53_33_am.jpg) I thought I would share this incase it may help anyone. After sitting and roasting several times on the river and sometimes cutting my trips short this summer I had to get creative to find a way to help keep the sun off of me at the hottest parts of the day. I bought this patio umbrella for $29 at academy and attached it to a boat pedestal with 3" wire band clamps. I did have to cut a few feet off of the umbrellas base to lower it, it was just way to high. The umbrella has a hand turn open/close, and it also tilts either way like i have it in the picture. And you can mount it anywhere you can put a pedestal. I didnt want to spend alot of money and a surely didnt want it to be permanant because I fish all year round. Anyway, just an idea for anyone who may need some temporary shade! Here is the link to the umbrella: $29 umbrella from academy

I have the same umbrella and had to replace the pole after a trip to choke. The angle part of the pole is made of cast metal and snapped off the piece of metal that locks the tilt with the first big gust of wind. When it broke it snapped the rope in the crank that lifts the umbrella. I replaced the pole with a old aluminum pool skimmer pole i had laying around and now just raise the umbrella by hand

Cool tip! I definitely do not ride around with it up. I take it down when I move spots. Hopefully that will help the wear and tear.
