Gonna take my old brother to Athens next week for some LMB. Just wondering if fishing the docks or the outside edge of grass and brush would be better?
Also, are the deep points doing anything on jigging spoons? I never tried them at night before. Thanks for any input yall can pass along.

Thanks Forkduc. I have never found a brush pile on that lake. I'll keep looking.
Fished a lot of docks and grass edges, but the BPs elude me.

I also have trouble finding brushpiles on Athens. Finally did find one on my side image last week that I caught some fish on. I am not very adept at reading my side image

Tough to find without good side imaging. There are lots of them!

PM me your email address. I’ll put you on the best brush piles on Athens
I don’t live there anymore — now in Katy so I will be happy to let you know where the BPs are that produce fish
But the best producing spots are trenches in 12-15ft of water
What a Great Lake —- spent the past 7 years fishing it almost every day

Flukeman83,
I don't know how to do a PM. I tried a couple of things but nothing.
My email is Jim5441@verizon.net. I only fish the lake a couple times a year. I have found a couple trenches (5-8ft deep) up close to shore.
But never any BPs. I know the lake pretty well so any help would be great, Thanks.

It's easy Jim, click on the guys name ( handle ) and you'll get a drop down and click on private message. It will take you to another screen.

WOW --- been out of pocket for a few days
lots of folks looking for information on those brush piles ----
too many to reply to all the PMs
Maybe I should just make me a brush pile chip and sell it on-line ……..
No--someone else is already doing that.
So ---- my info is free and for all to see.
I don't have my graph so I can't give waypoints --- just general areas, you have to find the sweet spots
first of all the boat will always be pointed at the place of reference
1.) just to the lake side from the bridge -- right side 20 yards out
2.) main point past the water pump right side 20 yards out
3.) cove on the north side, just past the small island in the middle of the lake --- no wake buoy left side 15 yards out / no wake buoy on the inside 15 yards out and right side
4.) north bank of the lake -- boat houses or docks / blue colored roof -- double boats straight out in front 30 yards out (this is also a great night fishing spot with a green light)
5.) at the spillway / dam -- halfway between the iron fence stake and the spillway --- 20 yards out from the bank (depending on the water level)
6.) back side of goat island off the north bank -- used to be a buoy I think is now gone right side just before the drop off of the creek channel
7.) to the west of goat island -- north bank - first boat dock as you come in from the lake right side 15 yards out
Now I fished Athens for over 7 years every week -- fished in and around these spots all the time. They produced for me to the point that I never cared about making the 1 hour drive to Fork.
I will soon be living in Surfside Beach and taking up Saltwater fishing ---- so my TOW at Lake Athens is now yours.
if anyone has any suggestions (other than -- don't do it) for saltwater fishing send me a PM.

To all those who said they would not share my brush pile info ……. it's OKay
I did already
good luck --- especially after they kill off all the remaining grass
as soon as I can get my graph up and running --- I will post some actual way points for good spots for fish.
drop offs -- channels and holes ---
I have saved everyone's PMs so I'll send the actual way points by PM

Thanks a lot flukeman. I actually fish a couple of those areas already, didn't know there was brush piles there. They just produced fish from time to time.
I'll check them out a little closer.
At the jetty in Surfside, on the river side is a good place to use the Chaurtruse Pearl swim Fluke with a splitshot. Get the white ones a dip them in Spike-it. Trout and Reds love um.
